Validate Slovak VAT numbers (IČ DPH (identifikačné číslo pre daň z pridanej hodnoty)) against the EU VIES service. Paste one number or a whole list below: every entry is format-checked for Slovakia (SK + 10 digits) before it is sent to VIES.
The Slovak VAT number is the IČ DPH (identifikačné číslo pre daň z pridanej hodnoty): SK followed by 10 digits. It is issued by the Financial Administration of the Slovak Republic (Finančná správa).
Slovak companies have three numbers that are easy to confuse: the IČO (8-digit company ID), the DIČ (10-digit tax ID) and the IČ DPH (VAT ID). Only the IČ DPH, which starts with SK, can be checked in VIES.
For most VAT-registered businesses the IČ DPH is simply SK followed by the same 10 digits as the DIČ. What differs is the status: a DIČ shows that the business is registered for tax, while the IČ DPH shows that it is registered for VAT. Slovak VAT numbers are also built so that the 10 digits, read as one number, are divisible by 11, which catches most typing errors.
The Slovak Financial Administration publishes lists of VAT payers, including businesses for which there are grounds to cancel the VAT registration. These lists serve domestic purposes; VIES confirms whether an IČ DPH is currently valid for intra-EU transactions. Company details, including the IČO, are in the Slovak Business Register (Obchodný register).
When a Slovak supplier's number comes back invalid, compare it with the IČ DPH on a recent invoice: a registration that has been cancelled still appears on older documents and in old supplier master data.
Paste your Slovak numbers into the validator above, one per line, each starting with SK. Spaces, dots and hyphens are removed automatically, and lower-case letters are converted to upper case.
justaxit first checks each entry against the Slovakia format (SK + 10 digits). Numbers with the wrong shape are flagged immediately and are not sent to VIES. Well-formed numbers are then checked through VIES, which asks the Slovakia tax administration whether the number is currently valid for intra-EU transactions.
Each result shows valid or invalid, plus the name and address when the member state shares them through VIES. If the national service is temporarily unavailable, the number is marked for retry rather than reported as invalid. Registered users can save lists and export results to CSV, Excel or PDF.
SK followed by 10 digits, for example SK1234567890.
IČO is the company ID, DIČ the tax ID and IČ DPH the VAT ID. Only the IČ DPH, starting with SK, is an EU VAT number.
That is usually the IČO with a prefix added. Slovak VAT numbers have 10 digits after SK.
For most VAT-registered businesses the digits are the same, and the IČ DPH adds the SK prefix. A DIČ on its own only shows tax registration, not VAT registration.
